I have been making journal quilts since the first year of them. My first set was bought by Karey Bresnehan for Internation Quilt Festival's collection.

January 2001 - Winter Dawn

We get some awesome sunrises in the winter out here on the Savannah River. And this was one of the best. I got up at 6 am to capture the beauty of this sunrise. This journal quilt was the lead journal quilt in the Quilting Arts Magazine Journal Quilt article. Still gives me a thrill when I think about it!

February 2001 - Winter Snowstorm

See we do get snow and ice in SC and GA. This is a picture of the Savannah River looking at the Georgia side....snow and ice as far as you can see...and it lasted four whole days...a long time for the south. Lots of 15 bean soup for dinner...

March 2001 - Foggy Day

May 2001 - Cats Abound

SO we get alot of fog on the river. I wanted to see if I could rise to what to me is the ultimate challenge with needle and fabric - representing fog. What do you think?!LD

This was the year we kept getting stray cats. This one had long hair like a persian but colored like a seal point siamese except that her bottom half was white. She was a very pretty cat and we finally found a good home for her.
